Kochi: The Central Board of Secondary Education will issue new guidelines to schools to reduce the burden on students. A circular will be issued to all schools in this regard.
Rescheduling school time and reducing the burden of learning are some of the guidelines. Demand to reschedule the school time is a long time demand from the parents and students. Hence, Union ministry for Human Resource Development will issue new guidelines regarding this.
The ministry will direct all states to allocate guidelines on the basis of the central criteria.
The action was taken as per the complaint on school time from many CBSE Schools.
In many schools, even 5-year-old students are forced to attend classes early morning. In many schools, classes commence at 7 in the morning. Thus, the new guidelines have given priority to reschedule school time.
Union ministry of Women and Child Development also raised the need to reschedule the school working hours. State Commission for Protection of Child Rights also received many complaints in this regard.
At the same time, in most of the CBSE schools, weight of the school bags was found to be double than the allowed weight. CBSE has informed the High Court, there are some practical issues to reduce the school bag weight.
Thus, the new guidelines will be issued by clarifying this matter.
The circular also directs to give awareness to parents not to compel teachers to give homework to students. Arrangements should be made in school to keep unnecessary study tools and books of students, noted the guidelines.
