Kochi: Education should not be aimed at securing government jobs, said Mathrubhumi joint managing director M V Shreyams Kumar said. The society, educational institutions and parents play their part in giving students a perception that they are studying to appear for LDC examinations, he added.
“Education is not a process that starts and ends at a particular age. It goes on until a man breathes his last. Education should teach a student how to deal with the realities of life beyond classroom learning and grades,” he said. He was inaugurating the Mathrubhumi-Fair Future Overseas Education Expo here on Sunday.
“Our students have the capability to conquer the world. But only their parents and the education system does not understand this. Our students do not have the privilege to choose their own future. The parents decide if their children should become doctors or engineers. The children should choose what they should become in life and parents must guide them.”
Mathrubhumi-Fair Future Overseas Education Expo's seminar in Kochi discussed educational possibilities in Canada. The expo gives an opportunity for the students to know and understand about the universities and courses in Canada. Over 1,500 people, including students and parents attended the event.
Fair Future managing director Dr S Raj spoke about the educational possibilities in Canada. He said that students should chose overseas education after realising what they want and where is the best opportunity to achieve that goal, he added.

School exams are round the corner. Scoring good marks is the primary aim. Many students complain of scoring low marks despite their great efforts. But it's time to go deep and analyse the issue. A little carefulness inside the exam hall will help you score those missing points.
Delete fear and attain calmness
Always face the exams courageously. Reach the hall well before the exam time and keep calm. Train your mind to the face the exam, use cool-off time effectively. Decide in your mind that you will win this exam even if it is tough.
Read questions carefully
Always read questions carefully. Never start answering before fully reading the question. It is better to read questions repeatedly if it is not clear the first time.
Almost all exams are now in application level. So don't expect direct questions. Always answer to the point for direct questions. Avoid beating around the bush as it may create a bad impression in evaluators.
Plan your time for the exams. Always remember to take note of the duration of the exams. It would be better to plan the time that can be allotted to attempt each question according to its marks.
Highlight important points
Evaluation is usually done quickly. The teachers may not have the patience to read the pages long essays written. Hence it would be better to highlight the important points in the copy. Main points can be underlined or can be tabulated. Pencil can be used for this. Always remember to keep your answer sheets neat as it would encourage the evaluator to read the answers.
